Welcome! My name is Emily Kohlman. I am a Masters of Arts candidate in Russian at Middlebury College and publish a newsletter on the intersection of Russia and the media called From Russia With Mila. I worked as a production assistant for CNN's morning programming (New Day and Early Start) and shared my passion for journalism and media literacy with high school students in the Czech Republic on the Fulbright Fellowship.
I have B.A. degrees in Journalism and Russian and minors in Political Science and Media Studies from the Schreyer Honors College at Penn State.
Two of my award-winning stories - one on Cuban migrants, which I reported from Panama, and one on a self-exiled Russian journalist, which I reported from Latvia (which I also translated to Russian) - demonstrate that I can apply my reporting skills outside of the United States.
