Through the Fulbright Fellowship, I taught English and media literacy in the Czech Republic for a year, and I also started a journalism club for my high school students. I edit a newsletter on the intersection of Russia and the media, called "From Russia With Mila." I have also worked on the Reliable Sources, New Day and Early Start shows at CNN in New York.
I received both Hearst and Society of Professional Journalists awards for my feature story ("My Prison is Panama") on Cuban migrants, reported from Panama, and I received another Hearst award for my profile (Free Press in Exile) on a self-exiled Russian journalist who launched a widely read digital news site in Latvia, reported in both Russian and English. I also have experience translating news articles from Russian to English for publication.
I covered the 2016 Republican National Convention for Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association, McClatchy and Capital News Service through Penn State. In fall 2016, I interned with the U.S. correspondent for Czech Television and produced pieces varying from Czech culture to Western Pennsylvanian voters' thoughts about the 2016 U.S. presidential election.
I graduated magna cum laude in May 2018 with B.A. degrees in Journalism and Russian, and minors in Political Science and Media Studies in the Schreyer Honors College at Penn State.
